16 and Pregnant: Taylor

If there was one thing that drives me crazy on 16 and Pregnant, it would have to be: where are the dads?! Not only will a baby not make him stay (8 in 10 teen dads don't marry the mother of their child) but a baby won't even make him change a diaper.

Last night on 16 and Pregnant we met Taylor, a 15-year-old pregnant by 16-year-old boyfriend Nathan. Though he promised to be a big part of baby Aubri's life, he has a hard time stepping up.

Since Taylor had to drop out of high school and take classes online while she takes care of the baby, she relies on Nathan to get an after school job to help pay for supplies. But he has no luck finding a job, and even tells her she should get a job even though she has given up school and all her free time to take care of Aubri. Can you imagine how much you'd have to give up for a baby? It would be hard enough to just juggle school, since half of teen mothers don't graduate from high school. Taylor doesn't even get to leave the house; wouldn't you go stir crazy if you were stuck at home all day, too?

I'm curious what you guys think. Why do you think it's so much harder for the boys to step up? Taylor's mom wishes the pair put the baby up for adoption, even though Nathan was positive he wanted to be a dad for his baby. During a fight, Taylor's mom uses Nathan’s behavior to prove that, "Kids shouldn't have kids." Are Taylor and Nathan still kids? They spend a lot of time bickering and fighting about who is more stressed out. Taylor hates that she can never leave the house, but Nathan thinks she has it easy when there’s so much pressure on him to provide for his family.

Taylor still wants her relationship to work, and in her closing she talks about how much easier it was before she got pregnant. If they didn't have Aubri, she says to Nathan, they would still be lovesick teenagers in la la land. Choosing to have sex means you’re putting yourself at risk of pregnancy…so that means you need to think seriously about the consequences of sex before you have sex. Do you think Taylor and Nathan were thinking about what could happen if they had sex?

You know most teens don's get this but having a kid at 20 or under will ruin your life, sorry but its true. I haven't had a kid yet and i'm fourteen, and i will keep it that way until I have a good stable job, a stable husband, a stable house, and when I have enough money coming in to be able to support kids. so ya.

It took two to make the baby.So why is Taylor the only one being a parent? Nathan is lazy and he treats Taylor bad! His mom should make him get a job and pay child support.Taylor get him out of your life now!Your daughter will be better off without him in her life.He will have another girl pregnant before he gets out of high school if no one makes him take some responsibility.Iam proud of Taylor. She is a good mother.Hang in there and God bless.

Why do these girls think that just because they're having a baby the baby's father, especially if he's young, will step up just like that. Girls mature faster than boys anyway and all girls should know that young boys want one thing and not thinking much about anything else, let alone a baby. There is all kinds of contraception out there and it's not fair for girls to think that an immature, adventurous young boy will automatically change overnight. Taylor really got on my nerves because her mother told her how hard it was going to be and she kept giving these crazy looks when her mother was trying to tell her the right thing. That's one of the problems right there: kids don't want to listen! Sorry, but i don't feel sorry for her or any other young person who thinks they're grown enough to have kids....get over it!! P.S. I'm obviously not a teen and blessed to be more mature and wise that's why i'm sharing a little foresight.
