Teen Mom 2: Making Moves

During last night’s episode of Teen Mom 2, it looked like all the moms are facing big challenges and are making lots of changes. With a couple of moms discussing moving and one looking for a job, these moms never get the chance to just relax.

Chelsea recently moved into her new home and wants to begin helping her dad pay for the rent. She is able to find a part time position at a tanning salon. Unlike many young moms, Chelsea is lucky that her mom is willing to watch Aubree while she is at work. Although Chelsea is really excited about her new job, it seems like the person she wants most to be excited for her doesn’t really care. Things are not going well with Chelsea and Adam. They are always fighting and Adam just doesn’t put in any effort to help Chelsea or Aubree at this point. Chelsea begins to realize that she cannot make Adam want her fairytale life of being a small happy family. Do you think Chelsea will finally give up on Adam or will the cycle continue? What do you think stops Adam from truly being committed to Chelsea and Aubree?

Jenelle is not getting along with her mom, Barbara, as per usual. Barbara tries to negotiate a plan with Jenelle, but Jenelle doesn’t want to hear it. She claims she is too stressed and is frustrated that she’s unable to turn to marijuana to deal with her stress. Jenelle is given the opportunity to move out of her mom’s home and stay with her friend. Jenelle knows it would be better for Jace if she moves out because there is too much arguing going on around him. As soon as Jenelle moves out, she gets a message from Kieffer asking for her back. And without much hesitation, the two are back together. Do you think things will get better now that Jenelle has moved out of her mom’s house? Will things get better between Kieffer and Jenelle? Will Jenelle finally live up to her promise that she needs to set her priorities better?

Leah and Corey have also discussed making major changes. After receiving some confusing news from the geneticist about Ali, Corey and Leah discuss moving and getting new jobs. Corey is no longer happy at his current job and wants to go back to school to get his certificate so he can work in the coal mines. Most 20-year olds would not have to worry about changing jobs, but when you’re supporting a family, you are constantly thinking about how the change will affect everyone. Leah and Corey have gone through a lot the last year, especially with Ali, and will still have to wait another year to find out exactly what is wrong with her.

Kailyn has been having a lot of money problems. During the last episode she applied for child support, but didn’t tell Jo until after the fact. Kailyn has already said she does not want to go on welfare like many teen parents often do. In fact, approximately one-quarter of teen mothers go on welfare within three years of the child’s birth. But Jo is clearly not happy with the situation and the two decide to meet to discuss the problem. These two never seem able to have a civil conversation when they are talking about something serious. Kailyn tries to defend her actions by telling Jo that if they were together he would be more financially supportive. Jo reminds Kailyn that they are not together and that is why he shouldn’t be expected to pay as much. Jo threatens to take Kailyn to court in order to lower the monthly cost. Considering it costs $11,000 to raise a baby for just the first year, do you think Jo paying only $500 a month is too much? Why can’t Kailyn and Jo seem to ever get along? Could Kailyn have handled the situation differently?
