LIFE AS WE KNOW IT

Latino teens have told us time and time again that they don't see themselves in the media they watch. And, they've also told us that the teen pregnancy prevention messages they've seen and heard failed to connect with them. So, in response, we provided Latino teens from all over the country with video cameras and created the Stay Joven digital media project in order to provide Latino youth an opportunity to film, record, and share their views on being Latinos today and what they want for the future.

LATINAS STRUGGLE TO STAY IN SCHOOL

Sabias que 54% of Latina teen mothers don't finish high school? Watch this MTV Tr3s "Year Book Chronicles" segment that profiles the lives of Mayra and Martha, two high school-aged Latinas, and their determination to juggle their estudios and be buenas madres after having had their bebés at early ages.

  • Fact: Menos de mitad of all teens in high school have had sex. Which means half have not and others are mentirosos.
  • Fact: 6 in 10 jóvenes who have had sexo by age 18 say they wish they'd waited longer.
  • Fact: Solamente 2% of teen madres graduate college by the time they turn 30.
  • Fact: Teen pregnancy is 100% preventable. Either don't have sex at all, or use protection CADA VEZ que tengas sexo.
